Finishing touches.....

With about a week or so to go the final touches are going in.

The asphalt driveway went down yesterday.........

......starting with a base coat of crusher run gravel and then asphalt.

And the final coat of finish for the floors was done this morning, along with the compass insert. NICE!!!

The final push

There continues to be a lot of activity at the house with final elements being installed.

We were particularly happy to find quartz remnants for all the bathroom vanities.  Here's a sample from the master bathroom....

Coated wire shelves were installed in all closets as well as the in the pantry....

 



The fireplace stone was mined locally on Brush Mountain.....

And Cindy's personal favorite, the installation of the kitchen soapstone.  This was sort of the one headache item...but boy the finished product was worth waiting for (better pictures to come).....

 

 

 

 

Cabinets, and Gables, and Decks! Oh my!!!

Finish work continues as we head towards the waning days of June and march headlong into July.  July, you say???? MOVE-IN MONTH!!  Yes indeed, in a matter of 3-4 weeks we'll be moving in. YAY!                Here's a peek at the latest happenings.
 

  Kitchen (left) and Butler's pantry (right) cabinets are in and awaiting countertops and appliances.

 

 The gable arches were more of an ordeal than we thought. Carpenters determined the arch radius from the plans (left), built a large jig as a template (right)..........

.....which helped them construct the pieces.......... 

......that led to the finished product!  Schaweet!!!

  

 We'll be spending a lot of time on our completed deck and screen porch.  Nature and a cold one........Ahhhhhhhh!

 

Next week:  countertops, appliances, water softeners, and finish grading. We're closin' in on it!

The temps heat up and so does the work.

Progress continues at Fortress Flint. Cabinetry, tile work, finish carpentry, hardwood floors, and exterior work abound.

A passel of activity!

Between the painters, trim carpenters, tile man, garage door installers, graders, and general contractors there's been a passel of activity at the property the last 2 weeks. Here's a glimpse of what's been going on.

 

The graders are putting in the first sections of septic drain field. Once this is covered Mike will plant clover and put up a deer stand! Wack 'em! :)

 

The decking on the front porch being installed.

 

Tile being laid in the laundry and upstairs hall bath.

While the last coats of drywall mud are drying and getting ready for sanding, the exterior is taking shape.....step by step, inch by inch!

Inside and Outside.........

Nothing like multi-tasking! Drywallers are putting the first coats of drywall mud on the walls and siding is going up outside. Love the progress!

 

First coats of tape and mud in the foyer and greatroom.

 

 

Cedar shakes in the gables and soffit/coil stock going up on the trim.

 

 

And then the siding starts to go up.
