Step by Step, Inch by Inch......
While the last coats of drywall mud are drying and getting ready for sanding, the exterior is taking shape.....step by step, inch by inch!
The Front: before and after siding.
The Back: before and after siding.
And here's the view coming up the lower road. Blends in nicely with nature, don't you think?
Next up: front porch and back deck on the outside, floors on the inside. Step by step....inch by inch!

Inside and Outside.........
Nothing like multi-tasking! Drywallers are putting the first coats of drywall mud on the walls and siding is going up outside. Love the progress!
First coats of tape and mud in the foyer and greatroom.
Cedar shakes in the gables and soffit/coil stock going up on the trim.
And then the siding starts to go up.
Stay tuned for more pictures!!

Redbud Interlude
This time of year the Redbud trees put on a spectacular show! We took a stroll on the property and soaked it all in.....
Majestic Jake
I dedicated this as Redbud Boulevard

Happy Easter! Here's your roof!
A break in the weather allowed the roofers to put the shingles on. Now we're dry on the inside!
The day starts out with a load of shingles and the roofer laying anchor boards on the roof.
Day 1: half complete.
And here's the finished product. Schaweeeeettt!! HAPPY EASTER!
On Monday drywall and brickwork begins. :)

More Interior updates......
Now that we're working on the interior, progress does not appear as noticeable as when walls were going up, roofs completed, or decks finished. That does NOT mean no progress! :)
The plumbing, heat and air, and electrical rough-ins are complete and will be inspected today. YAY! Assuming inspections go as planned, insulation work will start tomorrow; then on to drywall!
Here are some additional pics from the ongoing interior work. Enjoy!

And lets not forget a before / after shot of the fireplace!

Oh No! Snow! Go snow, Go!
Two snowstorms passed through in a week and left a combined total of 20" of snow. Pretty stuff, but it shut down work for 8 days. We just got the road plowed today.
After getting a bulldozer up the hill we're all clear. The boys can start work again tomorrow!

Phase 2 Complete!
Framing is complete!
Finally! After some cold, windy weather and a few SNAFU's on the lower section of the roof, our framing crew completed the exterior framing. Now we can move to the inside!
The curves at the roof bottom gave the framers fits!
These good ol' southern boys called them "hoop-dee-do's". :)
Before the roof decking (above); after the decking (below)
Even from the back it's starting to look like a house!
Next Step: Rough-in for plumbing, heat & air, and electrical. YAY!!

Springtime in January!
It was a beautiful day today - mid 50's in January. So we got some exercise walking the hills this evening. And it was a good excuse to see the framers' most recent work....
They began the deck in order to frame the roof above the screened porch - the right hand side as you are looking at the back of the house.
On the deck looking toward the screened porch.
Oh, and let's not forget..... We have a staircase now.....woohoo!
